The Top Scope IB Biology course is focused on helping students at both SL and HL: 

  • Acquire and apply a body of knowledge, methods and techniques involving biology 
  • Enhance students’ ability to analyse, evaluate and synthesise scientific information
  • Develop experimental and investigative scientific skills including the use of current technologies

Mathematics

The Top Scope College’s IB Mathematics course is focused on developing the students’:

  • In depth calculator training 
  • Effective work habits and ethics
  • Intuitive understanding of mathematical concepts as opposed to memorizing formulas

The IB Mathematics curriculum is divided into 2 streams: Maths Analysis & Approaches (AA) and Maths Applications & Interpretations (AI). Students in both streams learning the same core topics:

  1. Number and algebra 
  2. Functions 
  3. Geometry and trigonometry 
  4. Statistics and probability 
  5. Calculus 

 

However, each stream has a different learning focus:

Maths Analysis & Approaches (AA):

  • Focused on developing a deeper abstract and theoretical understanding of mathematical concepts 
  • Less emphasis on the use of technology in solving problems 

 

Maths Applications & Interpretations (AI):

  • Centred around the real-life application of mathematics in solving practical problems 
  • Emphasises the use of technology in solving problems
