Our SST8 selective entry preparation focuses on the skills assessed in the Victorian Year 9 entrance examination. Targeted learning, timed practice and individual feedback help students apply their knowledge to unfamiliar questions and manage their time with confidence.
Strengthen mathematical foundations and apply them to unfamiliar worded problems. Work through solutions step by step, recognise numerical and spatial patterns, and practise choosing efficient methods under timed conditions.
Build vocabulary, interpret varied texts and evaluate ideas using evidence. Develop inference and language-based logic, identify relationships between words and concepts, and practise balancing careful reading with efficient answering.
Develop clear ideas, coherent structure and precise expression through weekly writing. Practise planning, drafting and reviewing responses within a time limit, using individual feedback to strengthen the next piece of writing.

A new SST8 preparation cycle starts each June. From June through the following January, learning also supports preparation for Year 9 private school scholarships, before continuing towards selective school entry.
